Obama promises he'll push DREAM Act
#233561 - 09/17/10 05:10 AM

"President Barack Obama is promising to work with senators to help pass legislation allowing thousands of young people who attend college or join the military to become legal U.S. residents."

Nice so they can now not only go to college on the tax payers dime but get an even bigger bonus for it!

Yet the American born citizens still get charged non resident fees for going to college out of state?

Yeah it's all clear now??? :/

Good on you for taking the doggs lead in using the pokemon but honestly it was just a simple comment that I refused to let my son get into that stuff when he was young. He is in high school now and would look at a post like yours as coming from a dumbass.

You want to fuck pokemon that's your thing.

Do you huddle next to your talk radio inside your bomb shelter every night?

Somehow I picture you like the guy from A Beautiful Mind where you have newspaper clippings strewn everywhere with yarn linking the corresponding articles and maps.

Nope honestly I rarely listen to talk radio though I do like to when I get a chance!

I got the Dream Act info from Yahoo news when I looked at my computer a few hours ago and if it doesn't bother you that illegal immigrants get better access to the American education system than American citizens then that's your problem.

I wish I had a bomb shelter!

I picture you exactly like your avatar.

Uh... Okay. Not that I know (or care to research) how foreign students pay their way to come to school here, but... Aren't their tuitions paid for by either a company, (i.e a scholarship), or by their mommy/daddy back in their home-land?

The way I see it... If they're getting an education for a high paying job, (and Obama can wave his magic wang and poofta - make them skatizens) then Obama can tax them when they're rich, and the rest of us poor folk that like to sit on our asses making babies all day can get more help getting a free ride!

Oh.. Right. Well they can get enough money from their drug lord uncles to pay for their college. I mean, that's an option they have... Don't know if they'll go that route. But it's nice to try and get out of the family business.

Maybe it should be called Obama's Wet dream. 'Cause the illegals get wet when they cross the Rio-Grande.

I should have included shows like Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, or Hannity. I'll assume you'll say you don't watch them, but you have an uncanny knack for saying almost verbatim what they have to say.

Do you have any original thought? Do you sit and actually research any of your arguments before forming an opinion, or is it always so black and white for you?

Also, do you ever think about or have opinions on anything else besides the direction you feel America is headed?

Do you have a favorite band? Movie? ANYTHING other than your hatred for Obama?

Maybe post some of those things to get some attention instead of being the annoying parrot in the corner of the room that repeats the same word over and over and OVER again until you give it a cracker to just be quiet for 5 minutes.

You know, I always thought America was an immigrant nation, founded by immigrants, fought for by and won for immigrants, with a constitution written to guarantee the rights of immigrants to a life that will be as good as they can make it.
Also how come we're not hearing any of that sh*t about Arnie?....I mean the guys a Governor and he's from f**king Austria!, I mean obviously yes he's a white dude, but still, the guys a foreigner, he barely speaks English and his resume reads 'Can strike a pose and shoot guns'.....oh...now I get it.

Anyone on this forum have an American surname?.....what is an American surname?. Seems to me you've only got to jump back a generation or 5 and everyone's family were immigrants.

So I think NK's right. Enough of this immigration malarky, f**k em all. Lets get that black fella outta that Whitehouse, send everyone with a non-native American surname back to wherever their family originally came from and sit at home all day watching re-runs of the Dukes of Hazzard and pulling ourselves round the room when the Palin thing is on Fox News.....yeeeee haaaaaaaaa. etc, etc and soforth.

Of course unless NK's Surname happens to be 'Runs With Clouds' or 'Moon on the Water' likelyhood is he'll have to get on the boat back to dear old Europe or South America too.

Solidarity brother lets party like its 1955!.

Some people's ancestors followed all the laws pertaining to immigration when they came here. Whether they walked across a temporary path between Siberia and Alaska or sailed from Europe, they crossed no border they were not allowed to cross.

We here in in the Union of American States have heard of your troubles in the Union of European States with immigration from Muslim regions. As long as people there want to do something about that LEGAL immigration, you've no business telling us to not try to stop ILLEGAL immigration here.

We don't even get good restaurants out of the deal.

Sad but true. Just because in the past you were allowed to kill someone with no punishment because stole your food, doesn't mean it should remain for today. Laws are created in order to resolve a problem, or at least try. If U.S.A. were not having economical problems they probably wouldn't bother about immigrants like today.

Just as in any country in the world, government cares to know who inhabits and pays taxes. Nationality gives you an identity and a matriculate number so the government knows you exist, in order to exist for them you're obliged to actively participate and you get your own rights in exchange. The immigration is a problem because of that, it's like if someone visits your house uninvited and takes food from your refrigerator without permission. Did he pay for the food? Did he contribute to house's costs? No, he just got into your house and stole what you earn with your own work.

It bothers me Ninjakid expresses so bad about immigrants with such hate, but in part i can't blame him. He has no right for hating them just because their religion or natural nationality, but he's right about the subgroup who just take whatever they can from a country and then leave hidden in the shadows not contributing at all.

Immigrants may look with bad eyes such laws, but as in any country in the world they have the right to put their own laws as they like. Of course, we now live in a democracy and such laws will be debatable and modified. If immigrants don't like the new laws, they would have a right to protest if they existed for the government, but as they not, they only have the option to either hang on and hide, nationalize or return wherever they came. And yes, that includes Mexicans.

You obviously either haven't read half my posts or simply miss-understood!

I have said many times I have MANY friends here today that are ILLEGAL! I do NOT hate them nor do I hate Illegals in general.

My HATRED is more towards the US GOVERNMENT for not taking any steps whatsoever to try to control the problem, instead they promote it???!

As for the FatFuckers comments yes I actually do have Native American relatives on BOTH sides of my family actually!

I have relatives who still remember their grandparents talking about the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

Growing up spending almost every summer in Hardin Mt. going to REAL POW-WOW's on the reservation and spending a good majority of my youth around true Natives yeah I consider myself American!

I like the contrast of these two statements. You're my friend, but I hate my government for not doing more to throw your ass out. It's kind of a weird definition of friend, no? From the way he acts here, I guess it shouldn't be surprising.

Why? What don't you understand?

Like going to a concert you pay for a ticket and your friend pays for a ticket then another friend sneeks in.

So you and your one friend are out $50 while the other friend is laughing in your face!

Says the old man who considers an immigrant's daughter university student "the face of a criminal".

Says the old man who is against any muslim to practice its own religion just like christians do in churches because of mediatic ignorance and fear.

Now it turns out you have immigrant friends and you're 100% native american descendency. How convenient to justify AFTER instead of before. What's next? Your descendency inherited you a casino?

I know you were being sarcastic, but for everybody to go back to the country of origin of their ancestors - they'd have to be chopped up into multiple pieces.

I've got Native American ancestors from both of my parents, even Norwegian, ...I can't even recall the rest but I know there's a lot more.

Anyway, just wanted to mention it.

Maybe the President is making an attempt at bi-partisanship, supporting ideas originally sponsored in the House by Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT) and in the Senate by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT).

>As for the FatFuckers comments yes I actually do have Native American relatives on
>BOTH sides of my family actually!

So do you want everyone thrown out then?. I mean sure they may have been born in the US but at some point there families would have arrived without invitation. Or does it just apply to the people who first come in but their kids born on American soil are OK?, making it an abstract thing about Geography.

Isn't it irritating when people make sweeping generalised comments and assumptions about you and the type of person you are, pigeonholing you into a group without actually knowing anything about you individually?.

As far as I can see, being American is more about an attitude toward life and work than anything geographical. If someone wants to be educated, work hard and live in the US then the piece of sky they were born under should be irrelevant. What's needed are controls against the dishonest and idle, but that's got nothing to do with immigration it should apply to anyone and everyone. Plenty of natively born citizens living like parasites on the working population too.

Its also worth doing just a little bit of research into the job markets and seeing what type of demographic are filling what type of posts. In most countries, stopping immigration would leave significant areas of service and manufacturing industries empty, that in turn drives pressure and inflation on other reliant industries, and on it goes.

Seriously higher ground gives you a wider view. Sometimes its worth a gentle climb.

Dude we have the same issues over here. What I disagree with is the raving loony, narrow minded, 'immigrants are evil' brigade that wave it like a banner. Just making sweeping generalised comments happy to stick a label on everyone that crosses a border. They get sucked into the whole propaganda thing and just roll with it.

I agree with controlled immigration, I also agree with helping people who want to work for a better life to live here (UK) or anywhere else, but I think that should be balanced by moving against those (born here or not) who live like parasites with no intention to work or contribute to society in any meaningful way other than by banging out hordes of unsupported kids to form the next generation of layabouts and wasters.

I don't see things as a matter of Geography, I see things as a matter of attitude, people are people no matter where in the world they hail from. We should have legislation that encourages the honest and hardworking and targets the dishonest and idle, Nationality is irrelevant nowadays in Geographical terms, Nationality as far as I'm concerned is a state of mind based on the country whose values you share most closely.

You surely wouldn't be pissed with your friend - you'd ask him how he did it and make a note of this so you could attempt to save yourself $25 next time you visited that particular venue!
But getting back to what your analogy is actually saying - how have you and your friend 'paid' your ancestors simply migrated to the US at a time when either the government had decided it needed a larger population and encouraged immigration or at a time when no government existed, if anything the illegals of today are the ones who 'pay' - risking their lives to sneak in rather than strolling in and being welcomed with open arms!

Does anyone here actually know what the DREAM Act is or proposes to do?

And do you realize that they (Harry Reid-D) have wrapped it up into the Defense Appropriations because "it would be un-American and un-patriotic to vote against America's defense?"

Maybe if NK would post other things except Obama and immigration hate his posts wouldn't be as unpersuasive.

I don't like Obama either but shouting about it posting sensationalist drivel isn't really effective in proving a point.

It would seem that NK is not looking to change minds, or bring to attention the things that are really bothering him, but cause a riff. There's a name for people that do that...but it escapes my mind at the moment.

EDIT: Here's an example because PokeMAME I like you, I respect you. You and I may disagree on policies or views, but you and I would be able to have an intelligent argument/conversation on our opinions. Another thread resurrected:

I should have included shows like Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, or Hannity. I'll assume you'll say you don't watch them, but you have an uncanny knack for saying almost verbatim what they have to say.

There's a reason why I don't like hate radio: I have a functioning brain and I tend to remember what was uttered. And didja know that most of the hate radio websites don't have archives of their shows?

It's as if they're trying to avoid being caught within a snare lest they're called out upon their hypocrisy.

I admire those who do listen and catalog what's been said then look back and see how those hate radio gasbags contradict themselves. There's nothing like having gasbag "A" contradicting gasbag "A", one person's words against their own words. Fun stuff.

Which leads me to wonder: All that cognitive dissonance does build up. It creates a whole lot of tension attempting to keep two contradictory thoughts in mind while attempting to believe that both are true. Could it be that the brickbats being thrown are simply a tension release for that inner conflict?

And what better way than to craft a stereotypical strawman enemy to lob verbal grenades at. It doesn't have to have any basis in reality itself. It has to be exaggerated enough so that the hate and tension can flow forth. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. And that's how they're grabbed by the short and curlies to be turned into yet more bricks in that wall.

I could be wrong, of course. But I have worked both sides.
