after seeing Apple II post below, I started the hunt anew for a game I remember from high school computer lab. Artillery type game, two castles, random wind, random terrain. there seem to be quite a few of them, but I could never find the right one.
This one was written in Apple Basic, and my friend and I spent a weekend typing in and translating a printout of the game to Atari Basic.
Finally found it. Super Artillery. Why the heck couldn't Google pull it up?!? Too many false hits for other artillery games tainting the results.

here if you want to try it.
Now to see if I can find the one I translated with my friend. where'd I put those floppy disks?

I ended up using this one, playing it on a plane ride home. People around me probably wondering why I was having so much fun with a crappy artillery game with bad graphics.
I'll see today how well it works in MAME.

Nice one !!! Cool game. Looks familiar .... I might have played it before, I could well have typed it in as well. (Typed in tons of games back then).
