They're intended for use in frontends. Much nicer and much more descriptive than teeny, tiny 32x32 icons, especially on HD displays. Also, there's a lot more of them. It covers MAME games, MESS games, and since this release, Nintendo DS, PS2, Gamecube, WII, DOS and Windows games as well.

ok. Can you post a screenshot of a frontend using these logo images ?
My frontend supports up to 48x48 icons in details view mode and you can customize the games list font (font name, size, style, color). I can even increase the maximum icon size to 68x68 if I wanted to. But the frontend also have a thumbnails view, showing game snaps instead of game icons.
I have a 4K monitor (3840x2160p resolution). Indeed, 32x32 icons look tiny but 48x48 size is ok.
Just an observation... wouldn't it be easier to create 48x48 or even 68x68 icons for games ? I checked your logo pack but some images look tiny in 3840x2160 resolution, specially msx1_cart and nes images.
Please, I'm not criticizing your work. I'm just curious on how these logos are used.

Here you go.
They look tiny because all the logo's are at their native resolution. The ideal way to display them is to scale them to the delegate size, minus a few pixels for spacing.
Please ignore the unfinished look of the user interface - I'm currently refactoring a ton of code in anticipation for the first release of my desktop environment.
