That would do the trick. Frankly, I hardly ever record anything other than clean guitar these days. There are so many amazing software amp sims these days, and you have almost infinite flexibility to tweak and change the sound after the fact. The only thing better is miking an actual cab, which I don't often get the chance to do.

It might be tough at your price point. A lot of the USB units start closer to $200. You might keep an eye out for used gear. Something like a Cakewalk/Edirol UA-25EX would be a good choice (disclaimer: I work for Cakewalk) - USB 2.0, 2 decent mic pre's, and a hi-Z input, you pretty much wouldn't need a mixer. If you can find one for sale used, you could probably get it for less than $150.
