MAMEWorld Forums - Hardware - MAME cabinet controller

I am new to this and I am currently making a MAME cabinet from a gutted Golden Tee Cabinet. I am rebuilding the control box. I have seen custom control boxes that are intendend to play all MAME games. The one that I currently have plans for is 2 joysticks on the left and right hand side with six buttons each ( street fighter style ), Track ball in the middle, spinner top middle, and another joystick at the top middle with 2 buttons. My question is what do you use the top middle joystick for? do you use it for games like pac man or other single player games? should I daisy chain the joystick to the player 1 controller on a IPAC board?
