I thought this was a weird Windows 7 bug and your posts confirmed it.
I too upgraded from a Windows XP install some time ago and my folders behave in the exact same way. I think it's got something to do with the old folders' not being properly recognized by the new Windows install.
Hell, I have older backed up My Documents folders from three or four installs ago in other hard drives and Windows still treats them as if they were in the proper folder (I can't delete or modify them without doing high level admin crap.)
