Re: anybody here ever messed with self-induced sleeping paralysis and lucid dreaming?

i've had those too, and now that i've done sleep paralysis into lucid dreaming, i can tell you they aren't the same. what you're referring to is... hmm, realistic dreams? maybe lucid in that your dreaming self knows you're dreaming.

i've started using the 'stop-drop-roll' method (look it up, it worked the first time i tried) and then letting sleep paralysis take over. you have to be aware of all the signs of your brain trying to go to sleep, resist it, and try to enter a hypnagogic state while fully conscious. it is extreeeeeeemely fucking odd. i couldn't make it pass this sensation the first 3 or 4 times. after you're fully paralyzed, everything will start vibrating and you'll hear loud whooshing noises/whispering/talking. i also get extremely strong sensations of being tossed about or pulled into separate pieces. if you can relax through this, everything snaps quiet. after that, you can supposedly get up off the bed and go do whatever i want in an EXTREMELY convincing dream world. i can't make it pass the vibration phase due to all the freaky shit that starts happening at that point.

this is both fascinating and terrifying to me currently. i'm also discovering a sort of lost, life-long familiarity with lots of the sensations i get doing this. i feel like there's a lot to learn here. you are basically watching your subconscious run its nightly routines and trying to take control of the dreams and sensations that you're probably not supposed to be aware of.

i learned everything i know from KC
