[Q] Best practices for using GIT to *just* compile new builds.
10/23/14 08:36 PM

Want to ensure I've got the workflow going properly for just pulling and compiling daily builds and spell it out for folks who may be transitioning:

Setup: Download and install GIT cmd line client from: http://www.git-scm.com/

1. git clone https://github.com/mamedev/mame.git c:\myMAME
2. cd /d c:\myMAME
3. git pull

Repeat step 2 and 3 daily and compile from c:\myMAME

---
Functionally, if I'm not making any changes and just compiling from the latest checkins, is this appropriate? Would 'git fetch' be better or am I ok with the 'git pull'.

Second, building a release:
1. git clone -b mame0155 https://github.com/mamedev/mame.git c:\myMAME_Release
2. Compile from c:\myMAME_Release
