"...missed by that much."

As Don Adam's 'Agent Maxwell Smart' character would say in Get Smart tv series.

Being in downtown Long Beach area on same day, I decided to see in person (out of curiosity) along with fans of Emily Kinney and see her music playing skills. Emily Kinney - "Never Leave L.A." & "Last Chance" (live at Fingerprints Music on 4.27.16) It was a series of CA tour stops to meet fans and sign autographs etc and was more of an informal session without entire band support.

With the Fingerprints Music record store session being a meet and greet and autograph signing event, I decided to wait and be almost the next to last person in line and wanted to ask a couple music related questions instead of asking for autograph or taking a photo. It probably surprised her since most of the large size crowd there was either asking Walking Dead questions or having her be in selfie photos or signing autographs on various items.

Knowing Emily is versed with guitar and piano, I was curious what instrument she uses when first creating a song (guitar before piano was first answer). And then I asked if she uses electric guitar or synthesizer guitars (ie: Synthaxe or Roland brands) besides acoustic guitar. Her response was acoustic guitar primarily and maybe electric guitar, but doesn't care for synthesizer guitars. And before departing, I wished her luck on the ABC tv series since her appearances on Walking Dead had ended.

I know I could have brought up better topics....but wasn't sure what else to ask back in April. I then catch this interesting twitter tidbit entry from her account from an article entry just days ago. https://twitter.com/emmykinney

Nutssss. Had I known about the percussion stuff (read article excerpt and link below) back in April, I would have liked to have asked different questions instead. Damn. A missed opportunity. The drums and percussion stuff is right up my alley and I would have preferred to talk to her about that instead. If she is at some future local signing event in soCal, I'll have to remember to bring my own LP miniature cabasa or my LP metallic guiro even the Brazilian made caxixi / shaker (pronounced....Ka - she-she).

Hobby: Collecting percussion instruments

Rhythm n' boos: "When I recorded my first EP, I began really paying attention to the texture of songs. I worked with this drummer, Elliot Jacobson, who would bring a huge duffel bag filled with percussive instruments. I started collecting / stealing people's things. Like my glockenspiel. I first borrowed it from a boy I was dating. It's been four years, so now it's mine."

"I don't have anything too exotic—I do have an itty-bitty cabasa that I haven't really found a use for, but it's cute. I love cabasas. I have a couple in different sizes that make all different sounds. I also collect little things, like shakers and tambourines, random stuff. Like Popsicle sticks. (If you rub them together, or shake them, they make a sort of clapping noise with a click at the end.) The sticks are from a Mickey Mouse waffle-stick maker."

"Nothing in my collection is so fragile that I wouldn't share with anyone. They are all there to be used, not just displayed. You know, I'm trying to think if anything's broken ever ... not yet!"

I would have recommended to Emily of checking out Jakob Magnusson's tune Madagascar

...with percussionist Paulino D' Acosta is using various percussion items throughout the tune. Or also Alex Acuna when Alex was with the group Koinonia back in 1980s. Koinonia: Celebration - Live from Montreux 1984 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8A0OSXFvBUo
