This doesn't work. If you extract the official Windows Binary Packages (e.g. mame0182b_32bit.exe) in an empty directory and type only "mame" in the Windows prompt, then an ui.ini file will be generated with the line "historypath history;dats;.". The LUA data load program (plugins\data\load_dat.lua) now read the ui.ini and search for the mameinfo.dat and history.dat. The problem is that this LUA program didn't correct interpret the 'history;dats;.' paths. Only the history directory work. You must edit the ui.ini and changed the path line to "historypath ." if you added the mameinfo and history.dat in the root directory.
