world beach vollyball is the sound CPU, that's why the new MAME has partial sound in it (rom banking still needs to be figured out, it seems different to the other games) Playmark quite frequently used PICs or other MCUs as sound cpus on both their original games and bootlegs, in some cases we're using roms hacked from another Playmark title, but in the case of World Beach Vollyball that approach didn't work, so the original PIC was the only way forward.

UMK3 and Rampage World Tour just provide a security ID byte and the serial number, MAME loads them, and runs the code, but still uses the simulation to return values for now, they're more of use to anybody wanting to repair an original PCB.
