This is so weird.
If you did a clean install, you shouldn't even see the "Initializing Memory Variables" message. It should have shown you the "Clean Install" dialog.
One question I almost forgot to ask: is the timer in EL's splash screen still running or it also freezes (right side of the progress bar) ?
Do you have Win7 Aero theme enabled or are using the "Standard" Win7 theme ?
Do you have any apps running in the background ? Anti-virus or other apps that can "steal" the current focused app ?
I will compile a build with more detailed messages on EVERY little peace of command being executed at startup, so we can find out what is going on... if you don't mind testing those builds for me.
