Re: Why were you changing anything?....

Why was I changing anything?

In my last move, this cab got crushed. And when I plugged it in the monitor set fire. I'm rebuilding it.

It's been well photographed in its prime here before. Not much to see at the moment. The neon sides are broken and gone, and the monitor is awol. When I get it back to presentable state I can repost pics.

But yeah, I can brag the CP rotates to one of three positions.

One has two joys that switch between 4 and 8, six buttons each, and a miniture joystick rotated 45 degrees for qbert (you can see the underside of this CP at the bottom of the pic, the bottom of the mini-joy is the black diamond thing just off center to the right).

Two has a spinner with three buttons, a trackball, and a tron stick. The three buttons on this panel are leaf switches (qwhich you can see in the photo I posted), which are key for Track and Field. Micro-switches can't physically work fast enough to even beat the default scores on several T&F events.

Three is a RAM controls star wars yoke yolk (or was it spelled right the first time?). It was original planned to be a Subhunter yoke, until I realized my Subhunter CP is rare as shit. The arcade museum has no known instances of this cab in its database. I think my subhunter CP is the one and only surviving of its kind... and I ALMOST tore it apart to make a mame cab until I did my research. Thankfully RAM controls finally came through after a two-year wait with my repro star wars yoke. It also has a pinball shooter on the front, and flipper buttons on the sides (which you can also see in the pic since the yoke panel comes off to work on the innards. I'm pretty sure this is the only cab I've ever seen with a pinball shooter. The pinball's microswitch is wired reverse so it is pressed at rest, and is released when you pull the plunger, and actives when you release the plunger and it represses the button in. This button takes abuse and keeps on working.

edit: the white bar across the center is the axis of the CP, everything rotates around that, and the wires pass from the sides of the cab through routered grooves into the hollow axis to get into the CP. You can see the wires all coming out of the axis in the pic. The wires don't get over-twisted since the pinball shooter sticks out too far to allow any rotation beyond one single full turn. /edit

It was the shiznit.
