Experience with the Scorpion XG-2 dual player arcade controller?

Hello, I'am Mathijs from the Netherlands, 38 years old and new to this forum. I'am interested in retro stuff like 80's music and old school arcade gaming. As for a month or so I have mame32 with a few games running at home. To experience the games as they were meant to be I'am searching for a (out-of-the-box) dual arcade controller. I have read a lot about the Hotrod and X-arcade controllers. The Hotrod controllers are not sold anymore (website manufacturer is under construction for ages) and I read some negative things about the X-arcade controllers. So I'am looking for an alternative. On E-bay I saw the Scorpion XG-2 game controller (it looks massive, a bit like the x-arcade/hotrod, it's made in England). Does anyone know if this controller is good? There's no information on the internet on this thing.
Thanks in advance! Mathijs

I have a classic 2-player X-Arcade controller and I love it. works great. fast response, and buttons can be customized. you can also play PC games with it ("LEGO Star Wars" and others).
the new models can be connected directly into the USB (mine is older from 2006 so there's only a PS/2 keyboard connector).

Mmm. Looks better than the X-arcade, and probly has Happ controls or similar grade in it.
However, I suggest you run over to arcadecontrols.com forums, and look around. There are various kinds of controls, and they behave differently, and you might want to at least know that stuff before you buy something.
I bought a SlikStik some years ago, and since and partly through it, I've ended up trying several kinds of sticks, buttons, switches, as well as other controls.
For example, remember Tempest? You wanna play that *the enjoyable way*, you gotta have a spinner. You remember Centiped, or any other trackball-controlled game? Gotta have a trackball. And so on.
If you find out you definitely aren't interested in building, at least give Turnarcades a look:

It's kind of odd that manufacturer has no website, all I see are auction site listings. I guess he's probably just making them one at a time or in small batches and selling the off when they're done?
From what I can see, it uses pretty standard parts. I think the sticks look like Happ Competitions? Assuming it uses an iPac or Keywiz encoder, I think it should be fine. You could, of course, build exactly the same thing for less money. If you don't have the tools, space, time, and/or skills for such a project, though, it's probably not a bad deal.
I'd say the only problem is that it goes a little bananas with the buttons. Really, 6 (or 7, at most) per player is plenty, and I like one set of flipper buttons on the sides which can double as "coin-up". I guess the idea is that the extra buttons can be mapped to MAME functions, but I would find myself hitting them by accident all of the time.

Yeah. I've read some people saying they're such spazzes, they end up accidentally pressing the admin buttons when mounted at the top end of the CP. Still, I prefer them there.
Never the front, I think, but the side can be fine. Unless a child leans close or something....
Pinball buttons on the side just suck ass. The edge of the t-molding quickly gets wrankling, and regardless I find it much easier/more relaxed to map the buttons from the top.
