#256523 - 06/05/11 04:06 AM

I've seen Blue, Red and Black. I though only blue was official legit? Does anyone know what was produced form Nintendo?

Cheers

from MAWS:

"The red upright versions are actually "Radar Scope" cabinets that have been factory-converted to Donkey Kong. These are fairly rare (even though they were supposed to be the only Donkey Kong machines), and feature slightly different gameplay."

Hmm. What is that all about?

More research, yo. But I'll give you a hint: the japanese set plays a little differently.

There are several revisions that play differently. The Japanese sets play different than US sets. The Japanese sets repeat the same levels over and over. The US sets skip certain screens until you get higher in the game. I believe the order is different too. In the original versions you could put Jumpman's hand on a girder and barrels would not roll on you. This was changed in a later revision.

What I find amusing is nobody says outright that the game play itself is different between sets. Cos it is.
