Area 51 site 4 reboot problem please help! new
#313255 - 08/22/13 11:47 PM

Hello gamers I came across an Area 51 site 4 arcade cabinet. The cabinet is in great shape and the monitor is flawless. When I play the game it randomly reboot, but at no certain point though. I know this issue have been somewhat covered in previous discussions, but I tried them and still no luck. Here are a few things I've done to try a resolve the issue;

1. Cleaned the pcb and mb with can air
2. Reseat the ram
3. Unplug the watchdog then it start freezing up
4. I ran the hdd test over night but no errors of course. While in test mode it didn't even reboot, why is that?

The only thing left is replace the pcb and or the mb
I appreciate any and all help

Might check the voltages from the power supply. Sometimes when the supply is starting to go bad it can give lower voltages than it should, which can cause the board to reset at random.

Yup. Crack open that case, or pickup a new one.

Check the other voltages too. It should provide 5v, -5v, 12v, -12v according to this:

You may not see/catch a dip in voltage on the meter, especially if it's an intermittent problem.

Crack the Power supply case, look for swollen capacitors, burnt resistors, slow fans, etc. Or just buy a new one for $35 on ebay and call it a day. If the problem persists, you've ruled out the most likely cause and can go from there.
