Help with MAME on my PC.
#350451 - 02/21/16 01:55 AM

I got my MAME32 0169 working on my main computer windows 10, I copied it over to a windows 7 for the bartop I am making and when I try to open it up it just blinks a command line box for a second and does nothing, I done so much to figure this out I was convince it was my windows was corrupt. I did a reinstall, same thing MAME32 169 will not launch. so for poops and giggles I tried an older set I had MAME32 152, and it worked, so am I missing a certain setting with this newer MAME 169? I running windows 7 pro 32bit on a gigabyte 880gm-usb3 motherboard using the onboard video which is ATI. I am stumped, if not I am glad I saved some of my past MAME sets I have, hoping someone can help me.

Does the GUI launch? Why are you running 32-bit Windows instead of 64-bit?

On the machine where MAME doesn't work, have you run the DirectX End User Installer? That would be this guy:

Did you try doing a clean, fresh install in another directory & in cmd prompt "mame -cc"? With the new UI you can quickly& easily set it up to the your old directories & see what happens from there.

Sounds like you're just missing something simple, that's how it usually goes though isn't it?

Why does everyone want to keep helping with this hacked up MAMEUI when it goes against MAME Dev's wishes?

It's more a matter of "MAME runs on anything even with substantial abuse so this guy must have something novel/interesting going on".
