Mame and dual lightguns.

Hi everyone,
I have just signed up on here and hoping someone may be able to help me out.

I have a arcade cab with dual aimtrak light guns which I recently upgraded the PC in.
I have changed to a 64bit PC and Windows 7 64 bit and mame 0.174 64 bit.

Now to my problem, Mame recognises both guns as Gun 1.

I have the following set in the .ini

coin_lockout 1
ctrlr
mouse 1
joystick 1
lightgun 1
multikeyboard 0
multimouse 1
steadykey 0
ui_active 0
offscreen_reload 1
joystick_map auto



adstick_device lightgun
dial_device mouse
lightgun_device lightgun
mouse_device mouse



global_inputs 0
dual_lightgun 0

I have tried change the dual lightgun option to 1 but it stops both working.

Both guns have seperate ID's set (7&8)

Any help or suggestions appreaciated.

It has been reported but no fixes as of yet.

The biggest issue that as far as I am aware there are no active developers who have a lightgun setup. A fix will no doubt come in time but it make take a while.

Thanks for that reply Tafoid.

So am I right in understanding from that link that if I either recompile MAME or backdate to .171 I should be all good?

I understand that Andy at ultimarc has offered 2x free guns to any MAME dev who will take on the responsibility of sorting the code out for them.

Its a shame that none of them have taken him up on that offer really.

If I had the brain capacity I would of!

Recompiling current code will not help. You need to just go back to MAME 0.171 for gun games.

Most of the active devs right now are not on Windows; Haze leaving put the balance firmly on those of us with OSes Ultimarc doesn't support.

Well I backdated to 0.170 as sugested and everything is now good again

Thanks muchly!

On the other subject, I understand why most devs work in other OS's but surely it makes sence to develop for Windows as a primary as its one of the most used OS's in the world especially by gamers.

Just seems a shame really as Ultimarc are offering to help and work with the devs.
Like i said if i had the abilities you guys did I would snap the offer up.
Sadly I dont so I can only enjoy the fruits of your efforts instead which I am eternally thankfull for by the way!

No, the base feature set on Windows is better than ever, and the ability to do productive MAME work on e.g. my MacBook means we're able to work more on MAME than we would be able to otherwise.
