Very unintelligent advice, except for maybe clearing the backup RAM, if an Alien Syndrome PCB even has that.
If the wiring work he did has broken his PCB, plugging in a different PCB would cause that to break as well, congratulations, two broken PCBs instead of one. Likewise, if the bad wiring has caused the ROMs to blow up, a set of replacment ROMs would blow up as well.
Undo the wiring work or unplug the coin door. The coin door does not need to be wired up for the game to start, so remove the coin door from the equation.
