Any Nvidia card will work well with SDLMAME (actually it's just plain MAME now because the Linux support has been built in for the last 2 years). MAME on Linux upscales just as well as the Windows versions except there is no direct equivalent of the HLSL feature that simulates a CRT monitor. A 660 as Sune recommends will be fine for light gaming.

You'll want to use an HDMI cable for any HDTV.
