Regarding Asteroids Deluxe, I suggest keeping all artwork zipped. MAME will not see the file if unzipped (at least it didn't when I tested on my end)

I have all artwork in one zip (bezel, LAY file, overlay, etc). One zip file per game (in this case astdelux.zip)
