Conservative talk radio host: "Don't vote early"

I live in North Carolina and I listen to talk radio on my way to/from work.
One of the conservative hosts has been telling his (assumed) Republican base to *not* vote early.
I don't understand the logic in that. I'm sure there's some sort of strategy, but I'm not seeing it. Any ideas?
