CHDMAN - How To Make Reduced Size Image?

OK, I have Cart Fury arcade. I picked up CF Card reader and a 16GB CF card. I used CHDMAN and uncompressed the MAME CHD image I have for Cart Fury on to the CF Card. It worked GREAT! However, I noticed that the version in MAME (at least the version I have) is 1.00... the hard drive I have in the cabinet is revision vers. 1.03...
No big deal... I figured I'd image the hard drive and even see if the latest version of MAME had the 1.03 revision...
UNFORTUNATELY the wonderful folks at HAPP who offered up this revision (according to the sticker on the hard drive) put it on a freakin 80GB hard drive.
Is there a way to image only the sectors that are occupied? I can't image an 80GB HD and then uncompress it on a 16GB compact flash card...
Any way I can get the data from the hard drive to the compact flash??

technically you can. just extract like normal until chdman runs out of secctors and try that. i've not had issues with that before
