RED ALERT!

There's a huge bug in HBMAMEUI that has shown it's pesky head again. The hbmame.ini in the ini directory does not save users' settings after closing the emulator... nor does it recognize any modified settings if you modify the file manually. It also clears all modified settings once the emulator closes.

(The hbmameui.ini file in the root directory works fine.)

I'm using Win XP 32-bit.

I'm using the 32-bit HBMAMEUI. If you place the .exe in a fresh directory all by its lonesome, open the emulator, and go to the DEFAULT GAME OPTIONS and click for example, ENABLE MOUSE INPUT, or ENABLE CHEATS, or SKIP GAME INFO, etc... click APPLY, and then close the emulator. Then reload the emulator and those settings will revert back to being disabled. I've tested it on both of my computers. Do not doubt me Robbberto... or you'll get the belt!

I can recreate it. I went one step further and edited ini\hbmame.ini..
"mouse 1"
... and it is not loaded as a default. When you exit, it does not revert to...
"mouse 0".
Both 32 and 64-bit. Windows 7. Seems that a default hbmame.ini is created then ignored. I also changed...
"writeconfig 0"
to
"writeconfig 1"
It did not make a difference.

I think that there should be two sets with the 256 kill screen fix:

1) just kill screen fix
normal bugged ghost AI for people who want to use the existing patterns but don't want the kill screen.

2) ghost AI fix + kill screen fix
fixed ghost AI (the existing patterns no longer work) and the kill screen fix thrown in for good measure.

I could see people wanting both sets.

I've even tried making the hbmame.ini file Read-only, but the file's modified settings just clears once the emulator closes. Manually modifying the settings and then setting the file to Read-only used to be a temporary fix to this old bug... but now that doesn't even work. Which is odd because I thought when you mark a file as Read-only, no changes are supposed to occur to the file regardless of bugs in a program.

Have fun on your road trip Robert. Drive safe.

Thanks for uploading the bug fix on GitHub...

@Redk9258, do you think you could compile 32-bit HBMAMEUI with this new bug fix and upload it for us? It takes forever for my PC to compile MAME.

See attached. Not sure how to get the correct revision number, but SVN calls it 36183. I'll just call it 0.161.1.

edit: removed faulty attachment..

Thanks for the upload Red.

Btw, I'm not sure about the SVN number because how can your upload's SVN number (r36183) be less than Robbbert's release (r37536)? Shouldn't the SVN number increase instead of decreasing?

The bug appears to have been fixed, but a new bug apparently has occurred. The GameInfo.ini is not being created. After clicking View > Refresh, all your Available ROMs appear. But when you close the emulator, no GameInfo.ini file is created... hence if you reload the emulator, there are no ROMs in the Available folder. And if you happen to use your old GameInfo.ini from a previous version (you'll have to rename the file from GameInfo32.ini to GameInfo.ini), the games will appear in the Available folder, but if you click View > Refresh your ROMs, no ROM availability changes will be saved after closing the emulator.

You can get (if not the 64-bit version) at least the correct source?
So I can add it to my new page, online from today.

@Redk9258, do you have the source for the attachment you posted? AntoPISA would like to have it so he can update his HBMAME Repository: http://www.progettosnaps.net/hbmame/

@AntoPISA, five minutes before your post, I had moved my previous post to the following thread after I read that you wanted any bug findings posted there. In case you were wondering what happened to my post: http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/sho...part=1&vc=1
