Xbox controller now not working on PC
#371535 - 12/01/17 03:51 AM

So, I used my Xbox controller with MAME for years with no problems on my Win7 computer. Haven't used MAME in a few months, and now when I plug in that controller, and also a replacement Kycola Xbox-clone controller into a USB port, I get a "USB Device Not Recognized" message. Tried everything: switching USB ports, re-installing driver, futzing around in the control panel. This happens with both the original Xbox unit and the replacement unit. When I plug in my other "Steel Series" controller, it works with no problem, but I find it clumsy to use so that's not an option. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?

Problem solved. Apparently, it will work with the USB ports in the rear of the computer, but not those on top or in front. Now what on earth is up with that?!

Do the top/front ports work with other peripherals, like a flash drive?

Rear ports = straight to the motherboard, the front/top ports on your PC case are connected via cables.

Verify cables and BIOS settings for your motherboard's USB headers.
