How do you determine what goes into messinfo?

I see for this version you've included the updates for the coco machines but nothing for the dragon that I did. You also rarely seem to include any mention of the bbc peripherals that I add either.

First of all, thank you for your competent and constant contribution to the MAME project.
The time at my disposal is no longer what I had until a recent past, so some information can always escape me; from version 0.222 I get the information exclusively from the "Merged pull requests" section of the official "whatsnew.txt" file. Obviously something can always escape me, not voluntarily, that's for sure.
Specifically, what are the peripherals that I have not mentioned?

Appreciate the time you put into this. The "Merged pull requests" section will only contain anything from external contributors, and not include anything submitted directly to the project. You need to include "Source changes" to capture everything.

In 0.233 there's no mention of the Dragon MSX 2+ board (and others).
In 0.232 there's no mention of the Sprow ARM7TDMI copro being added for the BBC Micro. Also missing any mention of the aquarius improvements, and that btm2105 was rewritten and mostly works.

Overall I rarely see the WIP sections for a machine updated with anything I've worked on.

If you struggle to find information for anything I've added then please get in touch so I can point you to photos and any other info that may be useful.

The device you mention is regularly present in messinfo.dat:

The structure of MAME "whatsnew" has changed since version 0.222, and now it reports some redundant data (like all the machines added) and it would take much longer to go through it line by line in search of useful information, time that I no longer have. However, I will try to improve this part of my file, thanks for letting me know.

Fair enough, but you're missing the majority of changes by not doing so. It was sometimes taking over a week just to put together the "whatsnew" for releases by collating it into a more readable format, so appreciate this task is no longer done for you.

btw, if there's anything specific you'd like me to demonstrate on my streams, even as a cutaway from the overall theme, please let me know with the instructions etc. required to demonstrate it. I don't mind doing such things in a promotional sense, it's more logical than me advertising VPN services, online games, or promoting subscription based retro services that go against everything we've worked towards ;-)

Any additional information (but also pictures and manuals) about what you do tirelessly is welcome and would certainly be included in messinfo.dat.

Thanks, will have to see what could be interesting to view, and put together some media for you to demo with. Will get back to you.

- vme_slot: Modernize slot device code and eliminate deprecation warnings; actually propagate slot number [AJR].
- vtech1.cpp: Sound-related improvements [Robbbert]. Rework expansion bus emulation. Use memory taps instead of directly installing into the memory map. Use address_maps to specify address ranges. Add missing save states. Support the BennVenn SD Loader (preliminary). Move lightpen skeleton to a device [Dirk Best]. Add floppy formats and fs [Olivier Galibert].
- x68k.cpp: Treat the nibbles in 8bit color mode as two separate planes. Seems pcg can set it's own vertical freq apart from the crtc. Adjust special priority mode and screen timings hd63450: correctly add link chain mode. Fill screen with color 0 if pcg disabled and make text color 0 transparent again. Fix 512 line double scan modes. Color 0 is only transparent if the crtc is not set for 16bit color mode [cracyc].
- xerox820.cpp: Use memory view for bankswitching [AJR].
- ym3806: Changed description to 'YM3806 OPQ'.
- ympsr60.cpp: Update to use real ROM data. Add filters around BBD. Fix sustain behavior. Adjust volume range and defaults a bit. Fix BBD connections and behavior, use the cv callback to control the frequency. Fleshed out the PSR60/PSR70 drivers: Split YM2154 into a separate device. Created fake YM2154 ROMs as placeholders. Created new BBD sound device in src/devices/sound/bbd.cpp. Created new mixer device in src/devices/sound/mixer.cpp. Connected YM2154 and BBD devices. Approximated BBD driver behavior. Exposed analog sliders as adjusters (accessible via ` menu). Added sliders to layout and animated them [Aaron Giles].
- ymtx81z.cpp: Leave LCD color up to the (internal) artwork [hap].
