configuring Dead Zones in Mame
#349450 - 01/22/16 12:19 AM

Hi I am trying to figure out how to adjust teh dead zone settings in Mame on Ubuntu 14.04. I have an app called QMC2 which is a front end GUI for mame, and I see there is a joystick configuration there, but it seems that adjusting the dead zones has no effect.

Is there another program or ingame setting for adjusting dead zones in controllers?

Thanks!

Press Tab while a game is running. Analog settings only appear for games that used analog controls to begin with.

Hi, I tried that in every menu and sub menu before I posted here. Perhaps I missed something though. Could you tell me which menu you are referring to ?

I read that you're using a gamepad or something, and want to make it more accurate in response. In my experience, you can only make it a bit worse. It doesn't get a lot better. And you were in the right place to do that.

im using a logitech gamepad F310 (i know not the best), but will be getting a better controller soon, so I will still need to know how to do this

As for being in the right place, yes I figured so much, but I am still unaware of how to adjust the settings for the Dead Zones.

Any information on how to do this would be appreciated

OK I remembered wrong, there doesn't seem to be a way to adjust analog dead zone from MAME's UI. Maybe try messing with the sensitivity settings instead. Again, analog control settings will only be available for games that actually used analog controls, ie you will not be able to adjust analog sensitivity for Pac Man.

You have to do it in a UI build, and set the deadzone slider accordingly. Like I said, doesn't seem to have much affect. The default value of 30 seems the limit of functionality.
