Is there a Model 2 forum? new [Re: rushfanyyz]
#354927 - 05/29/16 07:56 PM

If not, then emuchat would probably be more appropriate. Regardless, one means you don't have the right files. Just cos you have roms don't mean nothin, yo. You need the right set for the version of emulator you're running.

Second thing might be related to that, but if not then it probably means your drivers ain't right. I don't know Model 2, so there could be a particular driver needed, like Dx 9.0c is needed for MAME to run HLSL and onward.

the roms i grabbed are different from the MAME roms, i made sure, after some reading earlier this week, to grab model 2's. have you run this emulator before? i have a feeling it's something stupid in the config text

As with many emulators, it's more likely to be something stupid in the head of the user.

Your second screenshot says "There are missing files. Load aborted."

That means... there are missing files. Either you don't have the right files, or the emulator can't see that you have the right files.

Check that your files are named right, and you have the files in the right path.

[e.g. "daytona (2)" is not the right name for daytona]

RELAX and just have fun. Remember, it's all about the games.

Make sure to also download the board ROMs set. The file is called model2.zip. Without it, games will not load. You can't have board ROMs in game sets, they need to be in model2.zip.

Sorry... been a long time since I used this one.

I Googled "sega model 2 emulator video subsystem error" and found this, though:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KiKUFqyLXt-HcVD_3drWIy9xI-aIcdQsY07bPiy7T2g/edit

2. Question:
I received an error when loading a game "cannot initialize video subsystem" "unable to find appropriate z-buffer format" what can I do?

Answer:
Ensure that you have loaded the correct video driver for your graphics card or on-board video controller and that you have set your Windows display properties to 32-Bit in the "settings" tab. Here are some links for ATI and NVIDIA.
For ATI based cards: http://ati.amd.com
For nVidia based cards: http://www.nvidia.com
NOTE: If you are using a notebook, please obtain your drivers from your notebook manufacturer's website. Also try running the emulator in a window, or if you are running in fullscreen mode, try changing to a lower resolution setting by clicking on Video - Fullscreen Resolution and work your way lower.

It means your PC is probably not good enough to run the emulator (which is pretty amazing since the emulator came out 10 years ago now). A new video card would likely help.

Means your laptop is too poor to run the emulator.

In the bottom line here:

You have to manually delete the ; before Dir1. Should look like this:
> ;Add your rom directories here (max 10)
