Compiling w/ latest MESS source and 141u4 produces an .exe that takes 2.2GB in memory.  So I'm holding off the binaries for a bit until it's fixed.

I guess that's why it crashed for me earlier. I've got 4GB RAM + 4GB page file. Maybe that was not enough?

I know the x86 version crashes as its memory footprint climbs beyond 1.8GB, not sure what happens on a x64 4G system. On my 8G box it just ate up the memory and took 3 times longer to load.

I compiled the 64-bit version. If I put it in my normal MAME folder, it crashes. If I run it from the folder it was compiled in, it runs. I suspect one of the extra files- history.dat, mameinfo.dat or icons cause the crash. I'll just wait for a fix to come out

The options are also not saving from the UI, same w/ MESS 10964 currently. So it's not in any shape to head out.

I took the source from MESS build 10804 and changed mui_opts.c to match 10966(Fixed quite stupid bug regarding saving default settings in WINUI).
Still takes over 2GB RAM...

Yeah, we have these desyncs every couple / three years that require some work from our current last devs standing.

I haven't compiled MESSUI for a while, but I guess it also takes 2+ GB of memory to run?

No, current MESSUI still weighs in at 300MB or so. Micko fixed the options issue and is taking a look at the memory usage.

My system has 12GB of ram... now I wish I could try it out but my system is in Japan and I'm in Guam
