U360 install - buttons don't match up to wiring diagram?
#346939 - 11/12/15 09:54 AM

So I just finished wiring two U360 sticks using the wiring harness. I connected the controllers via USB to a Windows 7 machine and tested the inputs using Windows game controller properties. Everything works fine except the buttons do not match up.

Button one which is wired to brown works correctly as button one however no other buttons match up to the wiring diagram. For example, button two should be wired to blue however when checking what button is actually corresponds to in Windows it shows up as button six.

The wires are cut and soldered, am I screwed or can I program the U360's via firmware so that the buttons are correct? I'm aware that I can change buttons in each and every emulator I'm using so please don't suggest that unless it is the only option.

I'm using the wiring diagram from ultimarc.

Correction: Buttons 2 (blue), button 6 (red), button 7 (grey) & 8 (violet), appear to be the only buttons that are not correct and don't correspond to the equivalent windows buttons. Button 2 should be the red wire and button 6 should be the blue wire. Buttons 7 & 8 should be switched so 7 = violet and button 8 should be grey.

I am still interested in an answer to my original question/post.

Have you checked the wiring harness and confirmed the 10-pin header is wired correctly ie red going to 4, blue going to 8 etc ?

One of the adapter boards my company manufactures for an end customer uses 10 of this type of harness connector and 99% of the problems we have when testing it are that the connectors are incorrectly wired.

Ultimarc controllers are programmable in this way. I don't know whether the Ultrasticks are. Should be in whatever ware for them.

The harness is correct according to the ultimarc website and it looks exactly the same as my other u360 I bought years ago.

I didn't see anywhere in the u360 software where the buttons were remapable.

I ended up removing the wires that were incorrect from the harness itself and swapping them.

Maybe its a QC issue?

If that worked, possibly. Ask Andy.

I had exactly the same issue (U360s were purchased Oct 2016). Have rewired them and have had no button issues since.
