I actually enjoyed Populous when it came out. I've never cared for the Civilization series...
|

They're decent games, but of the original 4 I'd say 3 was the weakest, most games seemed uneventful.
Could never get into the newer ones, 5 changed things I felt were core to the series and it never grew on me.
but no, they're not like Populous. Populous is basically an action strategy game, these are turn based simulation games with deep strategy.
Populous was a great game too tho, spent many many days into the early hours on it.

I got 3, 4, and 5 as part of a S.M. bundle a ways back.
Steam just gave me a 50% discount on the $80 version of Civ6. Have to give it a pass. Still have too many other things to be buying more.
Finally got through the main story of Arkham City while I was offline (I had that, FTL, and Spelunky).

I think I picked up that same Civ bundle a while ago. Have also passed on Civ 6; the earlier games are pretty much all I've needed in the series.
I've been playing Empyrion: Galactic Survival quite a bit. It's early access/alpha, but pretty cool - it's basically Space Engineers crossed with Minecraft.

Well... Didn't quite manage to leave the state. Place is noisy, less expensive. My internet choice was still pretty much limited to one cable company, which is now Comcast rather than Service Electric. The electric company offered a contract-free deal on Comcast service rather than the 2-year minimum that was all I could find, so I ended up going with that for $60 less than I was paying before. Have to buy a modem to knock $10 off that bill, where the modem wasn't a charge before. $100 gets me a modem/router that'll serve well enough.
For the better? Well, for reasons I won't go into, yes. Once I get new furnishings anyway. Some stuff just couldn't make the move.
I've seen Empyrion, it's another thing I'm not ready to buy. Space Engineers itself has more now than it had had, with planets, though it still looks to have fewer threats and very little life on the planets by comparison with Empyrion.

Jer, would love to obsess over Civ again, but lately I've been getting into 3D rendering stuff for MC and now I'm working on modding (but getting stuck at stupid places).
I forget your email, otherwise I'd send you the latest GatPack.
T and I just nixed the dragon in the new world. Shoulda been there, bro.
Haven't yet gone to the end cities, still plenty to do Maybe tomorrow.
