Tried to update to this from 0.143 (on Ubuntu 11.10 64bit), compiled from source.

1) During compile, ti99/gromport.c complained that a value was set but not used (int slot; in WRITE8_DEVICE_HANDLER(gromportg_w)) -- commented references to it out.
2) c64 no longer works:

$ mess64 c64
Ignoring MAME exception: Unknown slot option 'c1541' in slot 'iec8'
Ignoring MAME exception: Validating sx64 (src/mess/drivers/c64.c): Unknown slot option 'c1541' in slot 'iec8'
Validating sx64 (src/mess/drivers/c64.c): Unknown slot option 'c1541' in slot 'iec8'

Not sure if this is just an error or something on my end.
