If I remember correctly, I got into NES emulation first with Nesticle, probably in late '97 or early '98. At some point I got a yen to play the real arcade version of Rampage, probably after playing the NES version. I can't remember if RAINE supported Rampage before MAME did, or if I just happened to stumble across it first, but that was the first arcade emulator I ever used. I knew about MAME for quite a while before I actually tried it because it seemed complicated to get set up and running. I finally installed it when I got curious about games beyond what RAINE supported at the time, and haven't looked back since.
I reged at MAMEWorld in '05 (according to my profile my 7 year anniversary is coming up next week), but I only posted a couple of times. I lurked for probably a year or so before I started posting regularly.
