So... Model 2/2A works basically the same as Model 1.
The one big difference seems to be the "ring buffer".

Model 1 saves data to an address based on link id.
Model 2 rotates the buffer.

So on Model 1 the buffer looks like:
x12300000 - 1st frame
x12300000 - 2nd frame
x12300000 - 3rd frame

On Model 2 it looks like:
(my ID = 1)
x23100000 - 1st frame
x23123100 - 2nd frame
x23123123 - 3rd frame

(my ID = 2)
x13200000 - 1st frame
x13213200 - 2nd frame
x13213213 - 3rd frame

ElSemis m2emu seems to work like that too.
With the "model 2" logic, VR start to behave completly wrong (ghost cars etc.)
With the "model 1" logic, daytona behaves strange (ghost cars) and sega rally deadlocks at a white screen after linkup.

I do all that stuff even without a Joystick
