I don't think I've ever had such a smooth upgrade/install.
But then I reserve harrowing for:
Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 upgrades. It's Windows 95 but has Program Manager because "Start Menu is stupid". I don't think I ever saw an upgrade that worked right.
Windows 95 to Windows 95 OSR2 B upgrades. IIRC you couldn't boot the CD without a boot floppy, but you needed the OS installed to create a boot floppy that supported FAT32. The OSR2 boot floppy didn't support the CD drive you had in your machine. Or you could go through the pain this guy did http://www.tokyopc.org/newsletter/1997/08/win950sr2.html
I only upgraded 8.1->10 because you need to do it once. I immediately wiped everything and started again.
