Slowly.
ShouTime wanted a nice post about the game, showing how the community could really work together, and do things in a discreet but professional way when needed in order to aid the preservation cause.
The way people have derailed it, twisted my words, or whatever else is just absurd, I don't claim to be special, but once again people are *making up* rules to apply to me, eg. things about submissions, we've always had cases where somebody prefers to work with somebody else, submissions have been done on behalf of others etc. but suddenly that's not OK.
The whole thing was about building bridges, but it seems the blind rage and hatred some have towards me have now burned many more than we built, for no reason. I know some want to force me out completely, and it seems the method is now twisting anything I do, no matter how good the intentions, into something bad so that it appears I'm harming the project.
I wasn't planning on being here today to write this, but had to pop home to pick up more festival supplies, we got washed out. Rammstein put on a spectacular show tho.
Seriously, enjoy the contribution, although I'm now half expecting another dev to rewrite it out of spite* (under some other guise when what I have is at worst a perfectly workable base) just to avoid giving me credit, which would be a real indication of where team priorities lie; there are still a bunch of drivers that actually need rewriting due to license conflicts. The irony is I don't actually care about credit, I care about figuring things out, and preservation, and they've been figured out and preserved - I even wrote a simplified version of my thought processes in the article in order to aid others in the future yet I see devs attacking my tried and tested methods of 15 years to score points too.
* wouldn't be the first time, see Monkey Magic driver where Hau's perfectly acceptable driver was ignored just because people wished to punish him.
As I said tho, it's emulated, it's something we couldn't even have imagined being emulated just a few years ago, and from the sounds of it, it's a minor miracle it was possible to write that post at all, so, concentrate on that please. It saddens me to see what was an optimistic and interesting thing turned to shit.
