The Great Buttons Project (Part 1)
07/30/18 02:54 AM Attachment: art_log.txt 7 KB (13 downloads)

As a final gift to the 4 or 5 MameWorld users who DON'T want to feed me to fire ants and find anything I do acceptable, I have begun adding working buttons to my files. The complete list is attached. I'm alphabetically (by game name) finished through the Hs so far (plus a few more with similar panels [a total of 175 files and counting]). I wasn't happy with any of the button files I've seen around, so I vectorized my own from scratch in search of a cleaner and/or and more photorealistic look; if you don't like 'em, you can drop your own into the files. I also cleaned up and corrected MANY control panels along the way. I used the grouping system similar to what Mr. Do introduced with Rygar and Bank Panic.

NeoGeo games aren't going to be do-able until someone can get me the correct tags and masks.

I also added Full_Cabinet_MAME views to the files; these don't include speaker panels or kickplates, just marquee/bezel/control panels.

Also: new HBMAME files for Naked Donkey Kong and Galaga (Fast).

Also: Partial vector cleanup of the Kozmik Krooz'r marquee.

The cube button LED for Cube Quest is set up, it just doesn't appear to be working in MAME yet. And on Super Breakout, the knob selector works for Double and Progressive, but not Cavity. If someone wants to report these, feel free; they'd rather not hear from me.

I am saving the source files for everything this time around because at some point in the future I'll add working joysticks/shifters if they make it possible, but only for standard ball sticks. Trigger sticks would be a nightmare to set up because you'd have to have 9 studio-quality photos of each stick (of which there are many varieties) and MAME layout files would have to have some means of reading diagonal input. Maybe spinners and steering wheels could be animated in the future as well, but I'm old and in failing health and may not live to see it; MAME doesn't even render shadow transparencies on black backgrounds worth a shit yet.

Enjoy.
