I haven't followed the various sites, but I will guess that officials in Australia had seen what has already happened in other regions and took an aggressive approach of testing nearly everyone (if possible) and they probably had stockpile of test kits already in storage ready to be used.

I am skeptical about the numbers that China has been reporting. We'll find out results after many of the current travel restrictions are removed.

Spain and Italy are both in bad shape for now, but I believe Italy has been almost able to contain virus in northern regions even though there may be some cases in southern Italy.

With useless, criminally crooked administration, USA has now surpassed Italy and Spain with more reported virus infected positive victims. The casualty toll will eventually surpass by following week and country might either be behind China or maybe surpass China.

The blue states such as NY and California currently have the most casualties, but with the way some of the red states such as Mississippi, Texas, Tennessee have hardcore GOP psychos running those states, they might eventually have far more casualties combined compared to NY/CA/Illinois/WA/Oregon because the GOP leaders are choosing to allow all the states residents to go about as if there is no pandemic. With the way the outbreak has gone on an exponential curve, a lot of the GOP controlled states could be in some Irwin Allen disaster type 1960s/1970s movie within a few weeks. Or better yet, think of the movie scene in Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind where the Wyoming town residents are scrambling to climb aboard railroad cars as they are trying to flee. It could look like that the way GOP controlled states are inviting disaster to happen.

The way how the jackass-in-office claims the it will be safe to attend church on Easter Sunday services and things will be normal is only fooling those that believe him.

In the meantime, it looks like two countries are in the race to challenge Italy and Spain in the outbreak casualties. I don't understand why leaders in Sweden are thinking with their mindset while Norway and Finland have taken steps to deal with virus outbreak.

And in Mexico, it is also a cavalier attitude from the president there. They will be hurting in getting supplies now that other countries have grabbed their available supplies or are in process of manufacturing supplies. The officials in Mexico better have contingency plans in place when things get worse because they will. Seeing how things got worse in Italy and now seeing the same scene played out in USA, Mexico should be seeing this and taking any action immediately.

Mexico's coronavirus-skeptical president is setting up his country for a health crisis

In speech after speech, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, known by his nickname AMLO, tells Mexicans they shouldn’t fear Covid-19, even as hundreds of thousands of people have confirmed infections worldwide. Despite warnings from global health officials, he continues to hold political rallies, kiss supporters, and request that Mexicans go out shopping to prop up the country’s sputtering economy during a global slowdown.

“Live life as usual,” he said in a video posted to Facebook on March 22, showing him outside at a restaurant. “If you’re able and have the means to do so, continue taking your family out to eat … because that strengthens the economy."

AMLO’s advice, experts say, is deadly. What makes matters worse is that his policies over the past few years have set the stage for a profound health crisis. In a major effort to cut government spending, AMLO has reduced funds for the country’s hospitals and medical centers by millions. It’s left the nation short of physicians, medical equipment, beds, and coronavirus tests.
