The 1970s movie version is the real one that is worth watching compared to the revised remakes. Although some adult material of the film is partly edited, the entertaining adult rated humorous moments that made the film worth watching are shown (middle finger bird flip scene, the poster on one of the walls, and some of Margot Kidder's character 'Barb Cord's amusing dialogue lines).

The creator of the itsmebilly web site was allowed to visit and film/video exterior and interior of the house sometime post 2000AD The videoclip does a comparison of 1974 movie house interior versus when video of house tour took place nearly 30 years later. Clip is worth watching.

I was too young to see the movie when first version was marketed back in mid 1970s. There were a couple tv commercials of the movie. One was the official movie trailer , but going by 1970s era tv advertisement memories when watching tv as a kid then, there was an eerie tv commercial that displays a silohette of a body wrapped in black covering seated on a rocking chair rocking back and forth in front of an active fireplace with flames are backlit, but illuminating the body while sinister music can be heard. The camera would then slowly approach the rocking chair and then screen would go dark while audible screams are then played. The tv commercial probably aired a couple times back in either October 1974 or November 1974 during 7pm to 8pm tv viewing hours. The 30 second tv advertisement commercial itself was far more scarier than the movie imo. The commercial had a lasting impression on me and it is too bad I haven't been able to find the commercial because the commercial was terrifying imo. I had many multiple nightmares of that tv advertisement commercial as a kid then. Whoever produced/directed that commercial should have been on the Black Christmas movie writing staff because the original Black Christmas movie could have been a far more terrifying movie, but also a far more memorable movie.

Supposedly Steve Martin was a fan of the movie and watched it multiple times at the theaters when movie was first marketed back in mid 1970s. The vice president debate tribute is amusing.

There used to be a great fan based Black Christmas tribute website 'itsmebilly' iirc (I don't know if the site still exists) that gave details of the movie and the various onscene locations where the filmed various parts of the movie took place including the actual house, police station in areas in Canada since this film production was from Canada. The filming location inside one of the Canadian telephone companies telephone relay switch operations reminded me of how telephone companies old fashioned relay switch operations used to be back in 1950s/1960s/1970s decade since older relatives used to work for AT&T and I would get a chance to see what the workplace was like back then.
