Enough Star trek crap!
#302091 - 01/07/13 10:13 AM

Can we lose the Star Trek theme? You'd think this was a Trekkie site the way half the window's filled with Spock. How about banner images that actually relate to the board topic?

Tossing Dr. Spock overboard might invoke a dreaded curse from Big Bang Theory's Dr. Sheldon Cooper, but if things must change....I say go with Gilligan's Island as a replacment theme. Can't go wrong with Ginger taking up half the screen. ;-)

I don't have a problem with Star Trek crap in the Loony Bin. I only have a problem with it on the other boards where it's clearly out of place, EmuChat in particular. Having the thread on this board misrepresents my intention, and is clearly a case of bad moderation.

Smitdogg can take my license away, if he wishes. To me it was a simply case of whining and had no place in EmuChat (but perfect for Loony Bin). If you are offended by the pictures, you can shut auto-loading of images in your browser, right? Problem solved

Well Khan was a loony, first shown in 1982 when most of these games you guys adore were made, and this site tenders to.

I thought it was clever and rather apt for a guy that likes to post pictures of turds in glassware.

lol, same here, I suddenly had an urge to watch them all.

I had my old TNG season 1 collecting dust, cleaned it up and started watching, then I realized that I forgot to buy the rest of the seasons!

Now that my queue is packed with star trek stuff, my wife and kids got pissed

Grrrr I have no problem with Khan in the 'bin. It's Spock turning EmuChat into TrekkieChat that bothers me. The thread move alters the apparent intention.

Part of the allure of the show was how the recycled actors for different episodes. Dr Severin was also Akuta in "The Apple" and played a Nazi (sort of) in which I believe was "Patterns of Force"

If you don't have them on blu-ray you are losing out. They look like they were filmed yesterday.

They recycled a *LOT* of stuff. Even from other shows. For example some of the musical scores were made for Dragnet (another show that recycled actors). They also had to move pretty fast as they were filming one week, laying in the effects/audio reshoots the next week and showing it the next week. Most episodes took 2-3 weeks to make (unheard of at the time).

Most of their budget went for the special effects. A guy shooting a phaser could eat the budget quick as you had to have some one draw a cartoon on each frame.

At this time I can not justify buying the show again (got the DVD ver). I barely watch it anymore. Plus I filled my 20TB NAS recently so I do not have the space for a 3 year show on Bluray. I watched it quite enough when I was a kid

Which DVD version did you get? My ST:TOS DVDs take up two shelves, with each one being two trailers and episodes. It includes an extra "reconstructed" version of the pilot, made while it was "lost."

Makes sitting down to watch a bunch of them a bit of a chore.

I got these sets. They do not take up much room. They do not fit on standard dvd shelves very well though... They have a bunch of disks in each all in a small cube case held together by tape.

Think the ones I got are just repackaged versions of those. It does have 99/1 episodes. The B&W one is kind of weird to watch as it is a spliced ver of pilot and the 'pilot' one. I were buying it today I would do the same with the BR ver
