ArcadeVGA 3000, POST but bios is black screen
#317207 - 11/10/13 12:16 PM

Hi. I recently changed my motherboard, to a Asrock H81M. When I turn on the computer I get the POST, but when I press DEL to enter the bios the screen goes black. Any ideas? (Worked fine with my old MB) Thanks!

I'll bet money it has a high resolution UFEI BIOS.

I've seen people online complaining about UFEI BIOS problems (on many different motherboards) with the resolution either being too high for their target device or too low for the device (like with an HDTV).

You might want to see if you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard. Maybe ASRock has fixed it.

If that avenue fails, you might want to send an email to andy @ ultimarc.com and see if he has any ideas.

Hi krick. AAhhhhh. Yes, it does have that. When it went black, my gut feeling was - it's gone out of range, I wonder with this new mobo it has a different resolution. Dang! Will check if there is a bios update, it's pretty new though. Will query Andy too. Thanks!

For those that are interested there is another discussion on the Asrock forums:

I believe there are dongles designed for the sole purpose of providing the EDID information that the arcade monitor cannot.
Using such a dongle should allow the ArcadeVGA to display the UEFI BIOS screens on the arcade monitor, in the same way it does when you connect a secondary display.

Timothy Lottes for making this possible.
