You know its hot when it's too hot to go to a water park.
#328820 - 07/28/14 06:26 PM

It was boiling hot, so we decided to go to the water park to cool off.

After being there for about an hour, we were like, "Fuck!" (Well, we didn't say that in front of the kiddos) It's too damn hot to even be at the water park. Four adults and two little kids, and it was unanimous... lets find some air conditioning.

That's how you know it's too hot... when it's too hot for a water park, for cryin' out loud.

It was, though. Standing in line in the blistering hot sun... not worth it at all.

That part, which can tend to be most of the time spent. Same at any theme park. Did it several times, probly won't do it again. I had the idea you were close to the coast....

This past Friday I went to Atami. My wife and I decided to walk to the beach (10 minutes or so, walking slow) AFTER MIDNIGHT. We were only there for like 20 minutes before leaving because it was too damn hot. No wind. Just well over 80 degree heat, on the beach, in the middle of the night.

Just broke my personal record for number of consecutive days without dying!

It's interesting that it's so oppressive in so many places, because in New England it has been an incredibly mild summer, but not in a bad way. Lots of high 70s/low 80s and low humidity. There have been a few sticky days and a couple of nasty storms (like today) but overall it's been an amazing summer.

80 and humidity isn't hot. That's Cali coast summer average.

You're funny. Cali coast humidity? With that cold ass water? I've lived on both coasts, and you obviously have spent no time in Florida in the summer (Gulf coast).

Actually, pretty much all of Florida is miserable in the summer. In cali, not only are the summers AND winters mild in places like San Diego, but you have desert climate too. Lemoore sucks (but it sure as hell isn't humid).

Seriously. What good is a beach if you need a wetsuit to go in the water. LAME.

I recall this past winter season... And the dreaded Polar Vortex. I also recall, either an acquaintance or my brother-in-law, posted a meme on FB. It was of the Godfather Baby, and the caption read something like this....

"If anyone complains about how hot it is this summer...

They're getting punched in the throat!"

It is. I've once been in the SoCal Pacific since I was a child, we went surfing, it was the middle of the summer, and I was freezing within an hour. And I had a suit on.

@UR: I haven't been in Florida, that's true. I know all about it, though. At this point in things, I can easily stand 100-plus weather with at least 20% humidity. More than that I don't know, but a lot of it for me comes down to what clothes I'm wearing, and do I want to sweat in them?

Of course, in bed, I'm always down to sweat. Lick mine and hers right off 'er, too. MM.

Hahaha 20% is not humid. I’ve experienced over 80% humidity in Hong Kong, Philippines, Vietnam, parts of Australia and parts of India. The same temperature feels far more oppressive with real humidity.

Worst hot weather I've ever had in Australia was a 50°C day in Finley. It wasn't even very humid, but the heat just made you not want to do anything.

Weather responsible for 2,000 American deaths a year

Not very high at all, but that doesn't count people who are killed for complaining about the weather.

It probably doesn't count deaths in vehicle (plane, train, auto) accidents caused by unfavorable conditions, either.

Oh sure. Doggin an lashin heavy equipment in the holds of ships in the Gulf in summer monsoon season. I was told 140 degrees, and 1000% humidity.

Outside it was only 120-ish, with 100 percent humidity.
