Anyone have an 8 incher?
#338531 - 04/03/15 02:28 AM Attachment: big-ass-naked-hula-walk.gif 1505 KB (1 downloads)

Are PDF books readable without eye strain in full page portrait mode on a 8 inch 4:3 1024x768 Android tablet? I'm looking to get one for < $100 to replace my 9.7 incher. I also have a Dell Venue 8 1280x800 that is alright for comics but not so great with PDFs.

I'd go ten. I got a cheap android knock-off a year and some ago for $99 or less. Must be cheaper now.

Not quite, but looking at that hula girl gets me close.

I'd use it while on public transportation and ten is just too big and I don't think there's any that are 4:3. I'd get an ipad but don't want to spend that much because it's going to get beat up and dropped quite a bit.

If you keep the iPad in a case it's pretty durable in my experience. (Also more comfortable to hold than the bare aluminum).

I have an iPad Mini that I put in an Otterbox because it's sometimes used to sedate my children in restaurants. It's taken a few pretty good thumps (and lots of greasy, sticky fingers) so far with no damage. The Otterbox is a tad bulky, but it's quite comfortable to hold.

As an aside, the Mini is also an amazingly credible mobile game platform. I had written off on-screen controls as garbage, but they actually work on the 8-inch screen. Games that were unplayable on my phone are downright enjoyable on the Mini.

Yeah, one of my friends keeps his iPad in one of these tough cases - it adds a lot of bulk and weight, but it's easy to handle and seems to do the job in terms of providing protection for use out and about.
