Good work as usual. I may have seen a cab or two of Ramtek's Star Cruiser at places, but I never played the game as much compared to other Ramtek games (Clean Sweep and Hit Me) so I don't remember if there were any backlit lamps that did any visual effects during gameplay. Probably not compared to say Clean Sweep that does use backlit lamps to toggle off/on during gameplay to show which player (1 or 2) is playing.

The only remaining issue is discrete audio emulation rather than using external audio recordings.

-
0.36b15: Frank Palazzolo added collision detection and samples to Star Cruiser. Added Samples sound (engine, explos1, explos2 and launch.wav).

Years ago MAMEdev Derrick Renaud had mentioned Ramtek M79 Ambush logic schematics didn't appear correct and mentioned an actual audio board of the game would be needed to do proper discrete audio emulation for that game. I am not sure if Star Cruiser also had that same issue or maybe it was too much work for emulating audio just for one specifc game.

The service manual just shows the GAME OVER lamp and another lamp that's constantly on (probably behind the marquee section of the bezel).

Okay. Seeing the external audio support is still in video file section definitely gives it that very old MAME .36final version feel.

ComboMan,

As usual, excellent work! Good to see the working game over light as well.
One note, the game does have a blue tint over the playfield on the bezel as scanned.
Next time I visit the warehouse, I'll fire up the machine and see if there is anything missing from emulation.

Damn, I thought that blue was backing paper or something, since it doesn't appear in the flyer photo.

Give this version a try and let me know if it getting close.

Is the blue tint sheet taped onto the backside of the Star Cruiser bezel piece? Or is it taped to the monitor?

For Ramtek Clean Sweep, the blue tint sheet is taped to backside of Clean Sweep bezel instead of the monitor which means the Ramtek Clean Sweep would all be treated as an external artwork file (bezel, blue acetate sheet etc.)

I am curious if Star Cruiser is like Clean Sweep with same thing of blue tint / acetate sheet taped to backside of bezel.

If you can take a photo of interior side of Star Cruiser bezel piece just to show how it looks, thanks.

Sorry it took like a month to get back to you on this.
I think the blue looks pretty good.
The scan is accurate. It has a bit of violet to it.

In answer to Greg's question, the blue is part of the bezel on the backside.
