You can't wake him up before he go-go.

I find it odd that they say he died peacefully at home. Because that sounds like he had some sort of long-term illness, like cancer, and it was never made public.

Anyway, RIP. I was never a huge fan, but appreciated the stuff he did with WHAM.

Due to his long connection with the aids foundation I bet he might have had complications from that illness.

You missed some including the recent death of Zsa Zsa Gabor (that I don't think was mentioned here).
Also, I'd like if celebrity deaths were the reason for that question, but too many people seem to think 2016 was somehow worse than other years, and most of them list as the number one reason the year was so awful the recent election that needs to not be discussed here.

The thought had occurred to me, but I doubt that was the case. He seemed to be fine a little while back, he even appeared to be a bit overweight (not uncommon, age and all.) Cancer has been sneaking up on a lot of people so I still think that was what did him in.

I can understand why someone would jump to that conclusion given the tendency of celebrities to support a cause when it affects them directly (e.g. Christopher Reeve and spinal injuries). But we really have no idea what hit George, could've been anything.

No, because he was homosexual, being a star I'm sure he sex partners where numerous, it was the 80`s & early 90`s at the height of his popularity at which time the growth of aids was too, and as stated many celebrities usual support causes they are close too. So that in a nutshell is why I suspected possible cause of death.....

Now if he had been supporting cancer research I would have went that direction...

was gabor even famous? All I know about her is that she slapped somebody one time...

Edit: So... a quick Google turns up that she mostly became famous by writing books about herself being a gold digging whore. Yes. My heart bleeds for her death.

You're in luck, he did support at least one cancer charity!

Generous George: Singer handed huge sums to worthy causes including £5,000 tip to indebted student nurse and £15,000 to woman he saw on TV

George Michael: Fans lay floral tributes as charities reveal singer's secret generosity

George Michael's incredible acts of kindness revealed following his untimely death

He gave a woman £15,000 to a woman for IVF, maybe he had fertility issues. He did lose his mother to cancer and a partner to AIDS, those might explain his support for cancer and AIDS charities. He was also once a child, so that could explain why he supported children's charities.

It really just seems like he was a generous dude who came from nothing and wanted to give back.

Oh for Pete's sake.

She was an actress. You shouldn't fault someone for self-deprecating humor.

I'd actually thought she was dead long ago.

He didn't live an extravagant lifestyle, he didn't spend money frivolously, he gave so much of the money he earned through royalties to charity.

I know he didn't say anything while he was alive because he didn't want the attention. Helping others was its own reward.

Christ, what a loss.

That depends on what it reveals about them. If it reveals they grew up with a learning disability then sure. If it reveals they married for money or are racist or a hundred other things then your argument doesn't really stand up.

How many times did she marry for money?

About one husband, she was honest:

"Herbert took away my will to work. With his kindness and generosity, he almost annihilated my drive. I have always been the kind of woman who could never be satisfied by money — only excitement and achievement."

There's no joke being made there, unlike the remarks about being a "housekeeper" or how many husbands she's had other than her own.

In any case, I was never a fan of her, but she's part of the list of this year's dead celebrities nonetheless. If you cut from that list everyone you don't consider a great person, it gets a lot shorter. Let me see...

Yeah, I get down to ten. Oh, The one you posted hasn't been added yet. I've never heard of him, so it's still ten when edited.
