A gem from Frank's album The Man From Utopia, but I still prefer the piece "Dangerous Kitchen" instead. The best piece is the opening song Cocaine Decisions.
While on Zappa topic, this is a good interview session from a few of the drummers that played in Frank's group either in 1970s and 1980s. It's too bad Vinnie Colaiuta nor Terry Bozio were not part of the interview group.
Although I play drums and can appreciate quality guitar playing such as Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, Allan Holdsworth, Steve Vai, Pat Metheny, Larry Carlton, Mike Landau, etc, I was not familiar with Jay Graydon until about mid 1980s. After listening to the solo from "The Ending" for first time back in mid 1980s, I was impressed with Jay's work as well.
Wackerman, true to his name, used to be such a dork in the seat. Then, sometime after the 90s, he got hip. Good drumming, at least with Holdsworth, but I like Gary Husband the best in that run. Very tasty, never ostentatious.
Zappa was interesting. I like some of his instrumental stuff. The songs I'm not real into, but the texts are funny. Thing is, his schtick was real 60s (though of course he was doing it in the 50s).
The Steve Kipnich is decent. Probably got more radio play than his 80s successors.
