There is a song that The Bangels did a remake. I can't remember the damn words, but something about winter.
I SWEAR TO GOD that it's a remake, and my wife says that it isn't and The Bangels did it originally.
WHO IS RIGHT?

You're not thinking of "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama are you?

Hazy Shade of Winter, from "Less Than Zero". Originally by Simon & Garfunkel.

I never realized that was S&G that sang the original.

No, Cruel Summer was a bit mello for this tune... The one I'm thinking about was a faster paced song.
Let me examine listen to other's posts.

And one of the few covers that kicks the stuffing out of the original, IMO.

Bah, only version of it I ever heard left out a verse.
"Get back in the kitchen and cook me a beer!"

Whatever you do, don't place bets on the correct spelling of "prove"

In the time you waited for answers here, you could have searched yourself.
Searching the Wikipedia article on "The Bangles" for the word "cover" worked a treat? Maybe because you didn't spell the name of the band right, and used the term "remake" instead of "cover"?

The whole Less Than Zero soundtrack is pretty good...
Rocking Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu - Aerosmith (cover of a 1957 hit by "Huey 'Piano' Smith and the Clowns")
Life Fades Away - Roy Orbison (written by Glenn Danzig from the Misfits)
Rock And Roll All Nite - Poison (cover of the KISS classic)
Going Back To Cali - L.L Cool J. (a big original hit for Mr. J)
You & Me (Less Than Zero) - Glen Danzig & The Power & Fury Orch (an awesome original tune from Glen Danzig)
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida - Slayer (cover of the Iron Butterfly classic)
Bring The Noise - Public Enemy (this is a classic original by PE)
Are You My Woman? - Black Flames (cover of a moderate hit by the Chi-Lites. Beyonce sampled horns from the original song for "Crazy in Love")
She's Lost You - Joan Jett & The Blackhearts (cover of an obscure 1965 minor hit from a British band, The Zephyrs)
How To Love Again - Oran 'Juice Jones' (an original minor hit. Duet with Alyson Williams)
Hazy Shade Of Winter - Bangles (cover of the Simon and Garfunkel classic)

Ace of Base's cover "kicked the stuffing" out of that previous version.
BTW I knew it was Hazy Shade of Winter almost as soon as I read the OP.

The original score by Thomas Newman kicks ass but was never published officially (there's an unofficial remastered torrent). Those songs you listed, are ok and they describe the period the movie was set in. Btw the novel is much more intense, and the movie is best seen as a separate entity.

Now, some cool metal covers that absolutely *smoked* the originals were:
Testament - Nobody's Fault (Aerosmith)
Flotsam and Jetsam - Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting (a few people have done it, but none good)
Coroner - I want you (She's so heavy) (Which just hocks a big schluge from a great height on the original Beatles tune. Well, maybe not hocks a schluge, that's pretty stern.)
