Barcade: Home of the foreign beer and 80's games

Barcade a new bar that just arrived in Jersey City NJ has to be the most interesting places i have seen in a long time. it has food, foreign beer,80's arcade games, and yuppies galore.smackdown in the middle of Jersey City's historic downtown,i must say i was't expecting this.i walk in to hear Van Halen playing on the radio.then right before my eyes a starwars cockpit and 32 other games was staring right at me.of course i went crazy on the games and beer.after i've played enough i've noticed something about the arcade games
1.the vector games look more life like,such as asteroids bullets glow with flair and starwars seems so radar like
2. the arcade cabinets all seemed alot smaller than what I remember
3. i still can't play karate champ
4. beer does't mix with tempest
5.donkey kong's joy stick is a lot smaller than i thought
6.crt monitors now hurt my eyes
7.people still put quarters on machines
8.burger time still sucks
9.no one plays pong
10. tetris seemed easier
if you want to check this place out it's in brooklyn ,jersey city and philly.if your in the area check it out.i recommend it.

No its true! Gorillas have the smallest phallus of the bipedal primates... even the diminutive chimp is hung better. That's why Paulline is so unhappy with MC Kong (he doesn't go by Donkey anymore, now he's street, and goes by MC).
The biggest being the homo sapiens, that's us. So when someone calls you a homo, that's a compliment to mean your well hung. Smile, wave, and hollar back "Thanks!"

i remember thinking the same thing when i found an asteroids cab at a local putt-putt course years back. it was PULSING.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, there's NO duplicating that effect on a standard LCD or CRT raster monitor.
MAYBE something like this could, dunno.

Another place you could try is The Qube Restaurant (www.cuberestaurant.com). I have not been there but they always advertise it on 94 WYSP.

You mean you can't tell after seeing one firsthand?
1. When a vector screen shows black, nothing is being drawn there. There is no backlight!
With raster displays, there is ALWAYS a backlight. They've got more control over it in the last few years, but until a black part of the picture is "completely off", it can't be done.
2. Due to the directed beams in a vector monitor, the result sometimes can be "blinding". I can't say a TV or monitor has ever been bright enough to hurt my eyes. So the contrast ratio needs to be huge - and NOT with fancy fake statistician numbers as many do.
The remaining effects (glow, motion blur, etc.) can all be simulated much like they are in MAME.
I'd love to have someone prove me wrong though.
