I seriously thought they were giving crayola props. Looks like some little kid crap.

Bit of an over-reaction given they simply changed the font, no?
I've never met a kid whose calligraphy is anywhere near as good as what they're using.......

I'm not pissed about it or anything so I don't think I overreacted at all. It sounds like you haven't seen the new logo because there is no calligraphy.

I saw other people comparing it to another multicolor "G" logo before I even knew what it was.

I'm talking about the full new google logo on google.com. Not exactly cryptic.

Little kids with crayons would be calligraphy.
The new logo is simple a font change.

No dude, I mean made for kids. It reminds me of the Crayola font they used on actual crayon packs when I was a kid, to the point where I thought they were giving Crayola a shoutout.

It's a very common sans-serif font. These things come and go. It's all Times Roman one day (or a variant) or it's Arial (or a variant) the next. Sans-serif is, at the moment, considered to be the hipper styling.
In fact, my screen font is sans-serif. I think this has less to do with the change of font, and more to do with your own fixation on Crayola.

Except for the fact that on the day the new logo premiered, the animation of it was literally a crayon drawing the new logo, then it cross-fading to solid, so I'm not sure you have any idea what you're talking about and are just trying to be contrary for no good reason.

Straight on def: -the art of producing decorative handwriting or lettering with a pen or brush
I don't know what premier pre-school you went to but this isn't the sort of stuff I see hanging on the walls. They're usually called 'drawings'.
Just saying...

Crayons. Hip. Mmmmm.
Like V said, shit comes and goes. It has to because there's little new under the sun....until everyone has ten vaginas on them, like in Greg Bear's /SLANT.

That or you and Vaughan sound like Invasion of the Body Snatchers extras. Using a crayon font for your company logo when you're Google is really retarded.

That was entirely my point.
As for the Google animation - it's er, a cartoon image. I don't tend to read too much into them - I just hover the mouse over them to see what they signify and move on. I don't go off the deep end over which font they used.

I don't get it. I don't understand how my reaction was "going off the deep end". Maybe you can explain how it is?

It would make sense if it's a temporary back to school thing but aren't their temp logo changes usually daily? I wonder if they changed the logo on their building and whatnot or if it's still the old one?

Nah, looks as permanent as their change from a green "G" to a blue one.
