Why does Steam's age dropdown have 2018 in it? Are 2 month year olds a real issue on buying overage games?

At a guess, I'd say it's a "do it now, so there's no timing issue doing it when it "should" be done. Just include all dates up to the current one so you don't have to decide exactly when a person becomes able to navigate the interface.

It only goes back to 1900. What do the people born in December of 1899 do?

I don't remember the space effects being that bad. Looks like a college movie project from the 70s.

Not bad for 1982. Plus I think a VAX 11/782 would have been a bit out of their budget.

It's pretty bad. There's other stuff they could have done to not have it look like the moon is only slightly bigger than the ship and the ship exploding on the rock hard atmosphere. Even with a home camera, cutting away to someone's face after it gets close for a few seconds, then cutting back to just an explosion would have been an easy way to take away from some of the fakeness. It looks so fake that it looks like it was done that way on purpose for a comedy sketch.
